What is it?

What is the 11 Plus February Half-Term Course?

The 11+ February Half-Term Course is an engaging and enjoyable 4-day course designed to boost children’s confidence in the essential skills needed to pass the 11+ exams. With the entrance exams approaching, children in Year 4 are invited to boost their understanding, and children in Year 5 are invited to refresh their knowledge in the imperative subjects for the entrance exams: mathematics, creative writing and comprehension.

This course is suitable for children preparing for both independent schools and grammar schools in and around London. We have successfully prepared over 800 children over the past 12 years for schools such as: St. Paul’s, Wetherby, Latymer Upper, Dulwich College, King’s College, Emmanuel, Kingston Grammar, Westminster, Putney High, Francis Holland, North London Collegiate, Godolphin, City of London, Wallington Girls/Boys, Nonsuch, Tiffins, St Olave’s and many more…

How is our course structured?

The February Half-Term Course is a 4-day course running from Monday to Thursday with 4 hours of instruction per day. It is led by experienced course instructors who collectively have over 20 years of expertise in 11+ exam preparation.

  • Days 1–2 (Monday & Tuesday): Maths
  • Days 3–4 (Wednesday & Thursday): Comprehension & Creative Writing

Lessons are taught in small groups, with a maximum of six pupils per tutor. Most groups have just 2–3 children, ensuring personalised attention, targeted teaching and focused learning. All classwork, homework, assessments, mock exams and online practice materials are included.

A mock exam is completed at the end of the course, giving parents a clear picture of their child’s progress. It also helps us identify any sticking points and highlight individual strengths and weaknesses, allowing us to guide pupils towards their full potential.

These intensive courses are ideal for making the most of your child’s February Half Term. Although the tuition is challenging, the lessons are designed to be enjoyable and engaging. Most children leave feeling confident, motivated and often with new friends.

Example topics covered during the February Half-Term Course:

  • Fractions, decimals and percentages (maths)
  • Arithmetic and money (maths)
  • Algebra (maths)
  • Word problems and puzzles (maths)
  • Showing and not telling (creative writing)
  • Structure, planning and paragraphing (creative writing)
  • Writing complete answers to gain full marks (comprehension)
  • Identifying and using figurative devices (comprehension and creative writing)
  • Exam technique (maths, comprehension and creative writing)

You can book the full 4-day programme, or choose to attend 2 days of Maths or 2 days of English.

Testimonials

“Highly recommended. I researched a lot of tutoring options from 1-1 to group and found this one to be the best for my 2 sons. One prepared for 7+ and got offered places at our both choices – Highgate and UCS. Other is still preparing for 11+ so results are yet to be out, but progress already demonstrated in his improved performance at school. Many places are very transactional, but we felt Jane and team really cared and personally involved on the journey. Many thanks!”

“My child attended the October half term camp. This was probably the most valuable investment I made in my my child’s 11+ journey. The feedback report I received was far superior to any feedback that I received from any other source (including 1:1 tutors from another company) and helped me focus on the right areas to help my child with the 11+ exam.”

FAIZA (Verified on Google)

“Excellent Saturday school and tuition. Run by friendly, professional people with many years of experience with the schooling systems (grammars and fee paying private schools). My son attended from age 8 to 10 when he sat the 11+ and passed Kent grammar exams with flying colours. I recommend 11PlusLondon very highly and now use them for my youngest son, who enjoys the classes.”

E I (Verified on Google)

“Really good support for preparing for exams. They really helped my daughter prepare and boosted her confidence at just the right time.”

DEBORAH (Verified on Facebook)

“We have done a variety of courses and mock tests, leading up to our child’s 11+ exams. All were great help with knowing what areas we needed to work on and also helped our son feel relaxed in his actual exams, and not fretting about his interviews. The feedback reports were really informative and then we could discuss things further with Jane and her team, so we really got great assistance.”
