What is the 5 Day 8 Plus Summer Course?
The 5 Day 8 Plus Summer Intensive Course is designed to strengthen your child’s performance in the run-up to their upcoming 8 Plus entrance exams. It is suitable for pupils who have started preparation later and need focused support in a short period of time, as well as for those who have been preparing throughout the year and wish to consolidate skills and push for higher marks.
During the long summer break, academic progress can slow without regular practice. This course helps pupils revisit the most commonly examined areas of the 8 Plus syllabus, address any gaps in understanding, and reinforce key skills already learned.
The week focuses on the four core elements of the 8 Plus admissions process: Maths, English, Reasoning (verbal and non-verbal), and Interview Skills. Lessons are carefully planned to build technique, accuracy and confidence, while ongoing observation allows tutors to monitor progress and adapt teaching where needed.
Interview sessions introduce children to what to expect on the day, how to approach challenging questions, and how to take part confidently in both individual and group interviews.
Lessons are delivered in small groups, capped at a 6:1 pupil-to-tutor ratio. Our Summer 8+ courses usually average only 3–4 children per group, ensuring a calm learning environment with plenty of individual support. Coursebooks and materials are provided for use throughout the week and are returned to pupils at the end of the course to support further revision and practice at home.
How is the course structured?
The 8 Plus Summer Intensive Course runs over five days, Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 3:30pm. Lessons are interactive, supportive and engaging, delivered by experienced tutors who work hard to keep children motivated and confident throughout the week.
The course concludes with a mock examination taken under timed test conditions. This helps pupils become familiar with the format of their upcoming exams and provides valuable insight into their current strengths and areas for improvement.
Following the course, parents receive adetailed report within 10 working days, helping them understand their child’s progress and the most effective next steps in their 8 Plus preparation.

Children are welcome to attend for multiple weeks. For pupils continuing beyond the first week, we create a tailored programme and group them with other children who are also attending for additional weeks. Each week focuses on new content, so returning pupils continue to build on their skills and knowledge rather than repeating the same material.
The 8 Plus Summer Course is designed for Year 2 (going into year 3 in September) students preparing for 8+ independent school entrance exams, as well as Year 2 students gearing up for 9+/10+ /11+ independent and grammar school exams. Whether your child has been preparing for years or is just starting their journey, this course welcomes all students, regardless of their current stage in the process.
