What is the 1 Day Creative Writing Crash Course?
This intensive one-day course helps children master the skills and techniques required for success in the 11+ creative writing exam. Through expert guidance and structured practice, students learn how to craft high-quality short stories that meet the expectations of leading grammar and independent schools. Over the course of the day, we aim to help each child make significant progress in both confidence and writing quality.
Developed by our specialist tutors, who bring over 20 years of experience preparing 11+ students, the course blends academic rigour with engaging, confidence-building teaching. Each session is designed to be enjoyable yet challenging, ensuring genuine understanding and lasting improvement.
How is the 1 Day Creative Writing Crash Course structured?
Throughout the day, your child will take part in a series of targeted, interactive lessons designed to strengthen every aspect of their creative writing. Each session focuses on the core skills assessed in the 11+ exam, helping students refine their technique, expand their vocabulary, and write with greater clarity and imagination.
By the end of the day, each student will have produced a polished piece of writing that demonstrates their progress and understanding — the focus of our final lesson.
After the course, parents receive a comprehensive report, including personalised feedback highlighting their child’s strengths and recommended next steps for continued improvement.
Who is the course for?
These courses are perfect for children in Year 5 or Year 6 who can not attend our physical location, but would like to receive in-school 11+ intensive tuition over 1 day in a focused topic. This course is also ideal for children competing in both online and written papers, and is suitable for any school exam including ISEB, GL, CEM, ATOM, Durham, independent school tests and grammar school tests.

We run several courses throughout the year. Our Easter holidays, May half term and October half term courses are one week long and are perfect for intensive revision. Each week long course does differ and is focused on a different set of skill sets that will greatly benefit your child in exams and in later life. We recommend your child repeat our 11+ courses at different dates in order to cover everything necessary for the 11+ exams.
