What is the Christmas Last Minute Course?
With entrance examinations around the corner, we have assembled a Last-Minute Intensive Course to ensure your child is primed to reach their full potential. Spread over three days, we will cover the common pitfalls and sticking points your child may currently have in English, Mathematics and Reasoning. Focusing on a different subject daily, your child will benefit from revising what they have learnt as well as getting to fill any remaining gaps in their knowledge. We recommend you enrol your child if they are taking their entrance examinations in January.
Your child will benefit from intensive instruction and tuition in the three most popular subjects taken in entrance exams. These can be booked separately so you can choose to tackle single or complete all three depending on your child’s needs.
The course is split into:
- REASONING (18th December/21st December) – this day is focused on familiarising students with the layout of reasoning papers (both Non-Verbal and Verbal) and will teach your child the fastest and most appropriate methods for tackling verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions. The key focus here is speed with accuracy – most children fail in one or the other – we will be giving instruction as to how to find the perfect balance and gain the most marks.
- ENGLISH (19th December/22nd December) – your child will learn how to answer comprehension questions effectively, ensuring they are rewarded the highest marks for long answer-questions. They will also be taught how they can improve their marks for creative writing tasks by implementing key features – this in turn will help them to identify such features in comprehension papers, boosting their scores in this respect too.
- MATHEMATICS (20th December/23rd December)– your child will cover common problem areas and learn exam techniques to boost their scores and help with time-management. There will be an opportunity to address weaknesses in all topics likely to come up in entrance exams plus a few hints and tips to ensure that children can achieve the highest score possible.
At the end of the course, children will also receive a post assessment to assess their weaknesses in the subject completed. These will be marked and returned to you with personalised next-step recommendations and feedback by our expert tutors.
