What is it?

What is the 10 Plus February Half-Term Course?

The 10+ February Half-Term Course is an engaging and enjoyable 4 day course designed to boost children’s confidence in the essential skills needed to pass the 10+ exams. With the entrance exams approaching, children in Year 3 and Year 4 are invited to boost their understanding and refresh their knowledge in the imperative subjects for the entrance exams: mathematics, creative writing and comprehension.

This course is suitable for children preparing for both independent schools and grammar schools in and around London. We have successfully prepared over 800 children over the past 12 years for schools such as: Dulwich College, Emanuel School, City of London School, Kingston Grammar and much more…

How is our course structured?

The February Half-Term Course is a 4 day course running from Monday to Thursday from 10am – 3.30pm each day. It is managed by our course instructors who possess over 20 years of experience in exam preparation collectively. The first two days of the course (Monday and Tuesday) are dedicated to mathematics. The last two days of the course (Wednesday and Thursday) focuses on comprehension and creative writing. Class size is limited, with a 7:1 student-to-tutor ratio to ensure focused and effective learning. Coursebooks and materials are provided throughout the course and returned to students at the end, allowing them to revise what was taught in class or practise topics our tutors have identified as sticking points before taking their exams.

A mock exam takes place at the beginning of the course, so we can identify children’s weaknesses and respond accordingly by helping fill in the gaps or extending their knowledge to greater depth. This will also allow us to group children appropriately throughout the course, enabling every child is stretched and reaching their full potential. After the course, a written report with honest feedback and recommendations is emailed to parents ensuring parents are abreast of the insights we gather during the course.

These intensive courses are perfect for making the most of your child’s February Half Term. Despite the intensive tuition, the class environment and lesson structure is built to be fun and engaging. This means that your child will be happy to learn, and more often than not, leave with a smile on their face and some new friends.

Here are some example topics of what the February half-term course covers:

  • Arithmetic and word problems (maths)
  • Fractions and shapes (maths)
  • Word problems and puzzles (maths)
  • Showing and not telling (creative writing)
  • Inference (comprehension)
  • Identifying and using figurative devices (comprehension and creative writing)
  • Exam technique (maths, creative writing and comprehension)

You can book for the full 4 days, or you can opt to book 2 days of Maths/2 days of English.

I received detailed feedback, reports and all tests they did during the week. I wish I had found them earlier! All the tutors were very nice and my boy would come home with a smile each day. He found the experience of taking part in the mock tests invaluable.”

LIKA (Verified on Google)

“We have done a variety of courses and mock tests, leading up to our child’s 11+ exams. All were great help with knowing what areas we needed to work on and also helped our son feel relaxed in his actual exams, and not fretting about his interviews. The feedback reports were really informative and then we could discuss things further with Jane and her team, so we really got great assistance.”
