Our 8 Plus Preparation Programme is designed to help children develop the academic skills, exam techniques and confidence needed for competitive 8+ entrance exams for leading prep and independent schools.
Preparation follows a structured programme that builds core skills in English, maths and reasoning, alongside regular exam-style practice and interview preparation. Children are taught how to approach questions methodically, apply correct techniques, and adapt to unfamiliar problem types as they progress.
We recognise that every child develops at a different pace. For this reason, pupils are assessed on an ongoing basis so we can monitor progress, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and provide clear feedback to parents. This allows us to advise realistically on suitability, progress and next steps after 4–8 weeks of tuition, depending on age and level.
Each week, pupils cover different topics from the 8 Plus syllabus, supported by sample exam questions, guided practice and structured homework based on lesson content.
We prepare pupils for 8+ entrance exams across London and the surrounding counties. When registering, parents are encouraged to share their target schools so preparation can be appropriately focused.
Children may join the programme at any point during the year, as the curriculum is designed to cover the full syllabus on a rolling basis. However, starting earlier allows for more gradual skill development and consistent exam practice, helping to reduce last-minute pressure as assessments approach.
Students receive a 2.5-hour lesson every Saturday. Each session is split into two parts:
Classes are small, with a maximum ratio of 7 students per tutor, ensuring focused and effective learning. Managing tutors are highly competent and have over 10 years of entrance exam experience. All classwork, homework, assessments, mock exams and online practice materials are included.

Who is the 8 Plus preparation class for?
Our 8 Plus Preparation Programme is available for pupils in Year 1 through to Year 3. Children are placed into small groups according to both year group and ability, ensuring teaching is appropriately paced and targeted.
The Year 1 and Year 2 programme focuses on building strong foundations across all four assessed areas: English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Pupils are gradually introduced to exam technique, timing, and early mock-style practice, helping them develop confidence and familiarity from an early stage.
In Year 3, the emphasis shifts towards refining knowledge and exam performance in preparation for the 8+ entrance exams. Children learn how to maximise marks through efficient exam techniques, supported by practice papers, group interview preparation, and exam-style questions covering numeracy, literacy and reasoning.

Many schools now hold 8+ assessments earlier in the academic year, often in November or December rather than January. An early start helps reduce pressure, avoid last-minute cramming, and ensure pupils are well prepared. That said, we also see meaningful progress from pupils who join closer to the exam date, and intensive courses are available for families who prefer a more focused option.

Our 8+ preparation classes are held at school (face to face) in our Victoria location. Classes are controlled by our highly experienced course managers, with instruction given by competent teachers, who follow our programmes closely, ensuring the best service possible.

Our weekly Saturday classes in Victoria are very popular and have been running successfully for over 10 years. Classes are delivered by experienced tutors and class size is limited, with a 7:1 student-to-tutor ratio to ensure focused and effective learning.
