What is the 9 Plus Easter Course?

The 9+ Easter Course is an inspiring and enjoyable 4 day course designed to build confidence and knowledge in the imperative subjects needed to pass the 9+ exams: Mathematics, creative writing, comprehension, non verbal reasoning and verbal reasoning. Unlike previous courses, this course aims to connect children’s understanding in Maths and English to Verbal/Non Verbal Reasoning so students can truly achieve mastery in the subjects. In addition, we will be helping children implement vital exam techniques so they can boost their scores in exam situations.

This course is suitable for Year 2 and Year 3 children preparing for both independent schools and grammar schools in and around London. We have successfully prepared over 800 children over the past 12 years for schools such as: Dulwich College, King’s College School and much more…

How is our course structured?

The Easter Course is a 4 day course running from Tuesday to Friday with 5.5 hours of instruction per day. It is managed by our course instructors who possess over 20 years of experience in exam preparation collectively. The first two days of the course (Tuesday and Wednesday) are dedicated to mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. The last two days of the course (Thursday and Friday) focus on comprehension, creative writing and verbal-reasoning. Lessons are in small groups of a maximum 6 per tutor. All classwork, homework, mock exams, assessments, online practice questions/assessments are included.

A mock exam takes place at the beginning of the course, so we can identify children’s weaknesses and respond accordingly by helping fill in the gaps or extending their knowledge to a greater depth. This will also allow us to group children appropriately throughout the course, enabling every child to be stretched and reach their full potential. After the course, a written report with honest feedback and recommendations is emailed to parents ensuring parents are abreast of the insights we gather during the course.

These intensive courses are perfect for making the most of your child’s Easter holidays, especially as so many students have missed out on schooling over the past few years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the intensive tuition, the class environment and lesson structure is built to be fun and engaging. This means that your child will be happy to learn, and more often than not, leave with a smile on their face and some new friends.

Here are some example topics of what the Easter holiday course covers:

  • Shapes (maths and non-verbal reasoning)
  • Arithmetic (maths)
  • Measurement (maths)
  • Word problems and puzzles (maths)
  • Picking vocabulary and its effects (creative writing and verbal reasoning)
  • Structure and planning (creative writing)
  • Advanced figurative devices (comprehension and creative writing)
  • Exam technique (maths, creative writing and comprehension)

(Parents will receive a full timetable a week before the course start date)

You can book for the full 4 days, or you can opt to book 2 days of Maths/2 days of English.

“Jane and Andrew are very responsible and extremely helpful. Their tutoring is very effective and personalized. We sincerely appreciate their help. My son got offers from top London schools including CLS. Highly recommended!”

“Really grateful to the team. My youngest attended courses for 11 plus prep and then we took up their online tuition to finish up with her and my son doing GCSEs next summer. I wasn’t too keen on online to begin with but it certainly does the trick. We have got places for our top three choices and feel very confident about the pending GCSE results. Very happy, highly recommended.”

“We are very happy with Jane and Andrew who are both professional and enthusiastic. My DS has passed all paper exams and were invited for interviews by all applied schools including SPB and CLS.”

“Can’t recommend them enough. My son is more confident and is making amazing progress. He is no longer worried about mistakes and sees them as a learning opportunity thanks to Jane and Andrew. Brilliant feedback and tips from the staff too.”

“Very happy with their classes. My daughter enjoys their classes very much and got in to the schools for the 11+. Would recommend.”
