With 4 hours of lessons each day, your child will focus on all areas of a specific topic to understand how to improve to gain those crucial marks to stand out and beat the competition. Course topics include: maths revision, comprehension, creative writing, grammar and vocabulary, non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning and logic.
Our courses are ideal for children competing in both online and written papers, and are suitable for any school exam style including: ISEB, GL, CEM, ATOM, Durham, independent school tests and grammar school tests.
Held at our convenient Central London location, (Victoria), children benefit from responsive face-to-face teaching with highly experienced tutors in small group sizes of just 3-6 students per tutor. Our tutors have a 98% success rate with students gaining 7+ , 8+ and 9+ places with top schools consistently . This ensures your child’s focus and understanding is maintained for maximum benefit throughout each course.
The courses available for booking are:
Maths: Arithmetic : This short course will cover the imperative skills needed for the 8 plus exams and will include sharing the fastest and most accurate approach for the 4 operations (+, -, x, ÷). They will also gain confidence in tackling the variety of question types including short form, long form and worded questions. Revising and extending their knowledge, children will then learn to develop a strong understanding of the challenging money questions which they may encounter in the 8 plus exams.
Vocabulary and grammar: This course covers the fundamentals in most English papers, and reviews the common grammar rules needed to succeed in the 8+ exams. In addition, children will explore new vocabulary to improve their creative writing skills, and learn ways to interpret meaning from context. Furthermore, students will learn to use these new-found skills to answer several verbal reasoning types questions which often appear in 8+ tests.
Comprehension: Covering different question types commonly found in reading and comprehension papers including retrieval and inference, children are taught to boost their scores in both multiple choice tests and written papers – making this an ideal course for any school exam preparation.
Creative writing: Children are taught to write a high quality piece showcasing their individuality with memorable tricks to boost their score for the 8+ creative writing test.
Maths & Non-verbal reasoning: This intensive day focuses on teaching children the best approach to tackle common 8+ non-verbal reasoning questions correctly. In addition, children will solidify their understanding of the maths topic ‘shapes’, and they will learn how to use these to undertake spatial reasoning questions.
Maths: measures and fractions:Â This course tackles the popular 8+ topics: measurements, fractions and interpreting data. Your child will reinforce their current understanding, develop their techniques answering the different question types and explore the most efficient methods to answer the word problems.
Reading and listening: In just four hours, children will learn how to overcome listening tests, reading tests and a selection of common verbal reasoning questions found in the 8+ exams. To finish, children will also be given some guidance on how to display their best-self in a formal interview.
Maths problem solving: A course ideal for children who need revision and assistance in tackling tricky word problems found at the end of test papers. This course is particularly useful for children trying for competitive independent schools.
At the end of the course, we welcome parents to discuss with us our findings and a report with recommendations for your child will be sent via email.
